HOUSTON - Happy birthday today to someone loved by millions in every country on earth and unlike many of us, as he turns 90, he looks slimmer, trimmer and sleeker than ever before.
"He" is television. and Tuesday marks the day 90 years ago when Scottish inventor John Logie Baird first transmitted a moving face ten feet across the room on the so-called "televisor." Back then, it was a blurry image on 3 1/2 by 2-inch screen.
Today, in the age of 88 inch curved, smart, LED 4k ultra HD TVs, that would never do. (unless of course, like so many, you're watching low-res YouTube clips on your smart phone in which case, looks like everything old is new again.
Google celebrated TV's 90th with a Google doodle which is fitting since it was Google's predecessor in the way many folks got their news and information for years.
