As Jose Angulo looks to continue his goal-scoring run against Minnesota United FC, the forward believes the weekend break has helped the team’s preparations.

The forward came off the bench for Adrianinho to make an impact in attack and help clinch a draw in the season opener against Miami FC. After a long preseason, including a two-week tour of China, Angulo has described the bye-week as beneficial in the team’s preparations for the Strikers’ first away match.

This week will see the players make a 2,000-mile trip to Minnesota, before returning to play two home matches against Florida rivals, Jacksonville Armada FC and Tampa Bay Rowdies.

“It’s been a long preseason and we’ve been training hard, so it’s always good to let the body rest. The days off help a lot and allow everyone to get their energy back. Now we are back, ready for the Minnesota game.

“I feel good about the game. Minnesota is a team I do well against. Last season, I scored three goals against them. I think we will do well out there.”

Recent weeks have seen temperatures drop in Blaine, Minnesota where the Strikers will face The Loons on Saturday. But the weather is of no concern to the New Jersey native, who has plied his trade in New York, New England and Pittsburgh, before joining the Fort Lauderdale Strikers last season.

“We played in cold weather in China, and last year we played several games in the cold as well. Whatever the weather is like in Minnesota, it will not affect us. ”
