LOXAHATCHEE, FL - Gators are getting gutsy these days.
Like the ones who take dips in the backyard pool. Or the polite gator in North Carolina who rings the doorbell.
Yep, gators are goin' places, alright. But, chances are, a gator`s first stop on the way to becoming a purse or a pair of shoes is not sticking out of a dashboard.
Florida Fish and Wildlife officers got a glimpse of a real alligator foot comin` out of the ashtray when they stopped a trucker in the Corbett Wildlife area to check his day pass. The trucker said this was from a catch a few years ago. Officers knew right away something was afoot when they got a whiff. Other gator parts were scattered inside the truck.
Authorities allege the trucker killed the gator a few days ago, without a permit. He`s been given a citation.
When it comes to gators, sometimes it`s hunt or be hunted. So, this trucker`s lucky. Instead of just a citation, he could`ve ended up with a gator bite on his backside.
That`s known as tail-gating, ain`t it?
