WASHINGTON, DC - Eleven-year-old Nihar Janga from Austin, Texas, along with 13-year-old Jairam Hathwar from New York, were both co-crowned the champs of the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee. And if you think their names are a mouthful, get a load of the final words they had to spell. The winning words were feldenkrais and gesellscharf. After spelling those two words, the two walked away with the $40,000 grand prize.
Maybe the young Texan is just lucky he didn't get the word "niece". According to Google, who just broke down the top misspelled word in each state, niece is troublesome in Texas. But back to the spelling bee, where many contestants were shown busting a quick dance. The move this year seemed to be the "dab".
But the coolest move of the night came after Nihar throws up the "X" in honor of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. The football star tweeted back, that it made his whole day, congratulated the champ and invited him to a future game. Now that's a winner, any way you spell it.
