HOUSTON - It's paying off for a college student who's story went viral when he saved up $15,000 to pay off his grandparents' mortgage.
We told you about Stefun Darts back in March. On Tuesday, NewsFix caught up with him to talk about his new found fame.
"I never knew it would get this big or this huge," said Darts.
"Every since it made worldwide news its been kind of crazy," he says.
"I can't even go and do normal things because someone is either going to stop to want an autograph or want to give you a hug."
His viral status earned him a year of free pizza, sponsored by Hungry Howie's Pizza in Katy, loads of support online and most recently a trip to the Steve Harvey show where he was awarded a $10,000 scholarship.
It's not just him. Grandma and grandpa made their way to stardom.
"They're local celebrities," said Darts.
