BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The author of a new book says something we’ve all been taught is bad is actually very good.
Yep, we’re talking about cursing!
“In Praise of Profanity” author and Indiana University professor Michael Adams said “bad words” actually bring us together, and because of their taboo nature, curse words give us “a degree of intimacy.”
According to Adams, parents should actually teach their kids to use profanity so they can ‘bond’ even closer together.
But he said they should be careful to do so by “showing” rather than telling, so that curse words are still somewhat ‘frowned upon’ in society.
So is anyone else praising profanity?
Well, at least one freelance-writing mom in Massachusetts agrees and let’s her elementary school-age children swear “liberally” around the house.
Some folks seem to agree that even profanity has a useful place at times in our daily lives, so why try to hide that from your kids?
