HOUSTON — You may be turning gray, but chances are you're not feeling blue.

According to a surprising new study, the older we get, the happier we are. Who said everything goes downhill as we age?

The study, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, states more than 1,500 people between the ages of 21 to 99 were surveyed. Researchers asked them questions about stress, depression and their own satisfaction with life. The survey found while older folks had more physical heath issues, their overall mental health was better than young participants in the study.

Take that whippersnappers!

Job stress was a big happiness-zapper for people in their 20s and 30s, the study found. Other youthful problems included educational, romantic and family demands. But don't worry younglings, your time will come.

A recent British study about senior citizen contentment said people between ages 65 to 79 are the happiest.

It seems like the golden years are truly golden after all.
