CARROLLTON, Texas — Body cam footage often features criminal activity, but a video shot in Texas recently shows the lighter side of police work.

This week Carrollton police posted the footage from Sgt. Todd Burnside’s body cam after he responded to a noise complaint in September.

When the sergeant arrived on scene he found a group of men gathered in the parking lot of an apartment building. After he asked them if they were part of a group, David Opegbemi told Burnside they were practicing a dance routine for his upcoming wedding.

Burnside couldn’t resist asking for a preview, and the group of men obliged. Their routine set to “My Girl” was caught on the sergeant’s body camera.  Police posted the footage to Facebook Wednesday, saying “We see a lot of bad. But we see a lot of good too.”

Opegbemi told ABC News he was happy the video got so much attention.

“It sends a positive message to the world that one: black men don’t always need to be perceived as someone dangerous,” he told ABC News. “We are doctors, lawyers, accountants, business owners, and educators in our communities. Two: we all can coexist respectfully and safely in this country. All black men aren’t criminals and all cops aren’t killers of black men.”

Opegbemi told ABC News his wife, Tiera, was very impressed by their moves on the big day. Sgt. Burnside also spoke to ABC News about the reaction to the footage.
