One of America’s most acclaimed designers just released his new memoir “I.M.”.  Isaac Mizrahi made a special appearance at the Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton as part of his book tour.

"I tell people this all the time, I don't really have any other purpose in my life, I just really like to work," said Mizrahi.

"I.M." is filled with intimate details not only about the glitz and glamour of his fashion career, but also about his lifelong battles. Mizrahi says the book is dedicated to his mom.

"My mother is a major figure in the book, like literally, she's on every page of the book, I was worried that she might be reticent in someway, or maybe angry that I told some stories about her or about the family. She's extremely well read, and when I first told her that I was writing a memoir, she said to me 'Oh, you have to tell the truth'. So I knew that I had her stamp of approval already, but then she asked to see stuff, and I resisted. I waited until the book was actually published to show it to her. I was really nervous that she'd have this weird advisory action, but she really loved it," said Mizrahi.

The fashion icon who has dressed celebrities like Michelle Obama, the tv personality who has appeared in several shows like "Sex and the City" and "Gossip Girl", and the one man show who will soon be starring in his own cabaret, says writing this memoir is his biggest accomplishment.

"Before it was published it was this little thing I was working on, and the only people that had read it were my agent and my incredible editor, Amy Einhorn, who I love. The idea was that it was this little thing, but they started sending it out to get reviews, and to the press, and I started doing interviews recently and they asked me very personal questions that shocked me, and I had to remember that this stuff was in the book. That's where courage really comes in, forget about the hardships of writing, courage comes in when you are presenting your work to people," said Mizrahi.

With incredible achievements and contributions to the fashion community, I had to ask what Mizrahi's favorite fashion trend is.

"My favorite shoe right now is a very closed up sandal, on a not very high heel. I don't love super high heels, I think they look great, but unless you are some trained professional in walking in high heels, you're going to hurt yourself. And you can't run! What if your being pursued and you can't ditch someone you can't run!" said Mizrahi.

You heard him ladies ditch the high heels, unless you're a professional high heel runner.

"I.M." is available on Amazon and at every bookstore now.
