If cooking with love is an important ingredient, imagine cooking with your true love!

Meet Chef Alex and Cristina Recio of Colada in Fort Lauderdale.

"Thankfully we like each other so that helps," said Chef Alex Recio.

They've been together for 10 years, married for four, and opened this venture together.

"Colada is a fast-casual Cuban concept, so we own a traditional Cuban bakery in Hollywood called Miramar Bakery, so we took everything that we do over there and just presented it in a way that was more applicable to the more Americanized consumer," said co-owner of Colada, Alex Recio.

If we are at Colada, we of course have to make a colada which is Cuban coffee and sugar and it's all about the espumita.

We are ready to step into the kitchen and first up is their take on the Philly sandwich.

"We take our Cuban bread and we butter the top piece and toast all sides of the bread. Next we go to the grill, and our take on the Philly uses traditional Cuban ropa vieja, we then add some onions and some American cheese," said Recio.

"For our tostone flatbread, we fry the tostone, and while the tostone is frying we grab our pork and add some of our house mojo and onions," said Recio.

Colada is located at 575 North Federal Highway and has indoor and outdoor seating, for more information head to coladahouse.com.
