The CW is holding its new “The Flash”/ “Arrow” DC spinoff series “Legends of Tomorrow” for later in the 2015-16 season, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t start getting excited about it now. The network released the first look at the series’ ensemble cast Thursday (May 14) and confirmed fan speculation that Caity Lotz is playing White Canary.

The official cast listing for the still from the series says Arthur Darvill plays Rip Hunter, Ciara Renee plays Kendra/Hawkgirl, Victor Garber plays Professor Martin Stein, Caity Lotz plays White Canary, Brandon Routh plays Ray Palmer/Atom, Wentworth Miller plays Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, and Dominic Purcell plays Mick Rory/Heat Wave.

The majority of these characters carry over from The CW’s first two DC series. In “Arrow,” Lotz plays Sara Lance, though she was killed off during Season 3. Thank goodness for those magically restorative Lazarus Pits Ra’s al Ghul is so fond of.

Fans have been speculating she could be playing White Canary in “Legends of Tomorrow,” but this is the first official confirmation.

Though “Legends of Tomorrow” will air during the midseason, The CW President Mark Pedowitz says “it is a possibility” it could end up airing concurrently with “The Flash” and “Arrow” — meaning three DC shows at the same time. “They will live together, as they should,” he says of the shows’ shared universe.

“They will go back and forth into the future and the past in a contained place,” Pedowitz adds.

The synopsis for the new series reads: “When heroes alone are not enough … the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”
