If you’re dreaming about your next vacation you might want to pop into Kristine Acosta’s Academy of Hospitality and Tourism at Miami Springs Senior High School.

"They are doing presentations for their culminating projects. Its a presentation for a trip that they designed. There are different destinations that they went to: Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, and Nashville." said Acosta.

Whether these kids choose a career in hospitality, marketing, business or something else, their learning a variety of skills. They’re even creating travel brochures. Not only does Mrs. Acosta teach the kids how to do all this, she’s also the school’s DECA and National Honor Society Sponsor.

"It's great I love interacting with the kids generally in class but after school getting to see them grow as student leaders and members of the community is really rewarding, the have a great presence within our school and with their peers," said Acosta.

And whatever program she’s leading, she has a tremendous impact on her students.

"Miami Springs is actually the oldest academy of hospitality and tourism program in Miami-Dade county public schools, but she is clearly not the oldest teacher so she brings this energy and this new blood that is ideal and I'm very excited about the future of the program," said David Cadaval, Assistant Principal.

"Mrs. Acosta is a very persuasive and inspiring teacher, her methods of learning are very fun not like a boring way of getting a paper and answering questions, she always tries to do interactive groups sessions and lab lessons weekly," said Jesus Rodriguez, 9th grade student.

Not only does Mrs. Acosta love teaching these students, but for her there's an added benefit, she's back at her Alma Mater.

"When I got here it was a little strange being with teachers that had taught me, but its really amazing to come and have a mark on the school that helped me become the person that I am today." said Acosta.

So give it up for Kristine Acosta, whose hospitality makes her classroom a dream destination. She’s this week’s super teacher and the recipient of two passes to Universal Orlando Resort.
