Summer is approaching again and children will soon be getting restless from hanging out at home. So where can parents send their kids during the summer for some fun activities?

The Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade is offering it's 2019 summer program for area youth at four of their clubs.

"Our program is a really a fun time at the clubs. We have about 1,500 kids that come to our clubs and our program. It's about having a great experience, enjoying the clubs, and learning about all the different things that the world has to offer. Whether it's ice-skating, going to the movies or airboat rides in the Everglades, any opportunity that you see advertised, we're taking our kids to it," said President of Boys & Girls Club,  Alex Rodriguez-Roig.

And it’s not only about the fun stuff, the Boys & Girls Club emphasizes the importance of educational activities and selfless acts as well.

"We are there for the kids, whatever is best for the kids. We are all about providing amazing experiences that will help them grow in life. We do things that aren't as amazing like, reading and computer learning. But we want to fight on summer learning. Another cool part of the summer is that we pick kids at every club, which means there is a "Youth Of The Week" from the camps. The idea is to celebrate a kid who has done extraordinary well. Something that they did for another kid, it's about having the civic part we should have inside of us. We try to instill that in the kids," said Rodriguez-Roig.

And the camps aren’t only for kids, the Boys And Girls Club has a program for teens.

"So, we have a great teen summer program because many programs end at 12-13 years of age. We have dedicated teen centers at each one of our clubs, which there is dedicated space that is a catered program for the teens. We have a lot of high school kids. Rather than leaving them home alone, they are engaging in summer activities. They go fishing, to the movie theaters and there is a trip they go to the Keys and snorkel. We engage them in a lot of different activities for teens," said Rodriguez-Roig.

Summer camp will start on June 10th and will run from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
